British tourism sector looks forward to successful summer

Ongoing global economic problems and optimistic weather forecasts are helping to boost the UK's tourism industry.

In recent months, many holidaymakers have been deterred from visiting the eurozone by the slump of the pound against the euro.

Meanwhile, the Met Office has predicted that the UK is in for a hot and sunny summer this year, following disappointing weather over the last two years.

These factors have combined to create widespread optimism across the British tourism industry.

Indeed, the Camping and Caravanning Club has seen its year-on-year bookings rise by more than a quarter.

Spokesperson Jon Dale told the Daily Express: "If the weather is as good as predicted, I think this is going to be one of the best years ever."

Tourism bosses in seaside resort Blackpool are also looking forward to a successful summer, as they believe they offer a cost-effective alternative to other destinations.

Speaking to the Blackpool Gazette, Councillor Maxine Callow commented: "We've got something to offer everybody."
