Cruise holidays 'a popular all-inclusive choice'

Over 50s looking for a cost-effective holiday option may be turning to cruise holidays, according to new research.

Statistics published by the Passenger Shipping Association (PSA) and Association of Cruise Experts earlier this month suggested that the cruise industry remains in healthy condition despite the recession, with long-term growth in demand for the holidays expected to continue.

Penny Guy, PR director at the PSA, suggested that this popularity was due to the all-inclusive nature of cruise holidays appealing to recession-hit holidaymakers.

She said: "The research we've seen suggests that people still want to go on their holiday, but they just want to ensure that they are getting value for money on the holiday they choose."

Ms Guy explained that cruising is seen as a convenient and affordable choice as board, accommodation and meals are all paid for, while being able to book and pay in sterling is also seen as an advantage.
