Dressing for a date

So you have a date with that gorgeous guy or your lovely lady, but you are in a state of panic because you just do not know what to wear. Your bed has turned into your new wardrobe and time is running out. Breathe… just follow some simple steps to dressing for a date.

The most important thing to keep in mind is comfort. When dressing for a date, make sure that you wear something you feel comfortable in. Do not, for the sake of being sexy, put on a pair of stilettos if you are hardly able to stand, much less walk in them. For the guys, if you absolutely despise wearing a suit, then you do not have to wear one. If jeans are your thing then dress it up with a shirt and a smart jacket.

Another important thing to remember is to consider what you will actually be doing on your date so that you can dress appropriately. For example, if you are going on a picnic then put on jeans and top or t-shirt, if it is a formal dinner then you may want to choose a dress or a skirt. If your partner is surprising you and you have no idea what you are going to be doing, be sure to ask them to give you a basic idea of what you should be wearing.

Dress according to your body type, but be sure your clothes are not too tight or ready to fall off at any moment. It helps to make sure that the colour of your clothes suits your skin tone, and ladies if you cannot bring yourself to leave the house without make-up, please do not overdo it. Less is more.

Never leave the house without knowing what the weather is going to be like. The date will definitely not be any fun if you are freezing to death or dying of heat exhaustion. Be sure to take along a jersey if you think it may get a bit chilly later on. Always have a back-up outfit planned just in case the weatherman gets it all wrong.

The last thing you have to make sure of is that you feel confident in what you are wearing. It would be a royal waste of time if you are ever conscious of what you may look like. This will distract you and your date will pick up on this.

Remember the way you dress makes a statement about who you are. So dressing for a date should always be about you, what you prefer, and what you are comfortable in, so that your date can get to know the real you.
