Holidaymakers 'looking beyond eurozone for cheap holidays'

UK holidaymakers are increasingly looking outside the eurozone for cheap holiday options, according to new research.

Over 50s looking for a cheaper holiday option may wish to search beyond the eurozone, according to an expert.

Francesca Ecsery, global sales director at, has stated that British holidaymakers are increasingly searching for destinations which will allow them to avoid punishing exchange rates.

These include the likes of Turkey and Morocco, which allow travellers to enjoy more affordable day-to-day living costs while remaining relatively close to more standard European holiday locales.

Ms Ecsery said: "Once you get there, it is cheap. It is not too far, easy to get to and is cheap when you get there."

This comes after the Post Office recently advised that a number of long haul destinations can also offer favourable rates of exchange.

Thailand was rated as the most affordable destination, while countries such as Kenya and Egypt are also said to provide good value.
