Patience and open-mindedness could prove key for over 50s looking for love online, according to a newspaper.

Over 50s looking to online dating as a means of meeting people have been advised to remain patient and open-minded in order to get the most out of their new relationships.

The Daily Express has stated that online dating has made it easier than ever for singles to meet like-minded people from the comfort of their own homes.

However, it reminded the five million UK singles who have tried online dating to remember to take things slowly to build any interactions gradually.

The newspaper advised that an online conversation can often act as a springboard for a real-life relationship, but reminded singles that people can often come across differently in real life from how they do in writing.

Singles were therefore called upon to "keep an open mind" and give others a chance in order to make the most of connections they forge online.

This comes after dating expert Sasha Madarasz last month told 3 News that the internet has made it much easier to meet people with similar interests and personalities than it was in the past.
