Over 50s 'are living healthier lives'

New Prudential research has revealed that living a healthy lifestyle is proving easier for over 50s than others.

Feeling healthy and relaxed in life is proving easier for the over 50s than it is for younger generations, according to new research.

A new health and wellbeing survey conducted by Prudential has revealed that over 50s are the age group least likely to smoke, eat unhealthy takeaways or miss out on getting their five portions of fruit and vegetables a day.

In addition, it was found that those in their 30s are more likely than over 50s to feel as though they are lacking in energy.

Shaun Matisonn, chief executive officer for Prudential's health insurance division PruHealth, described it as "wonderful" to see that people are feeling healthier as they get older.

He also called for those who do feel unhealthy to ensure they take steps to remedy the problem, such as changing their snacking habits or looking to walk more.

This comes after insurer Aviva last week published research which revealed that over 50s are increasingly looking to use their retirement years to try adventurous things such as travel the world or start a business.
