Over 50s 'using technology to enhance holiday experiences'

Using the internet to research and share holiday experiences is becoming more popular among over 50s, according to an expert.

Over 50s travellers are increasingly looking to use IT to improve their holiday experience both before and during their trip, according to an expert.

Lauren Mackay, brand manager at career break travel specialist Gap Year for Grown Ups, stated that more and more older people are using online resources to read and share holiday advice.

Among the avenues being explored by over 50s is the use of the internet to research and read reviews of potential destinations, as well as to seek out cheap flights and offers.

However, she also pointed out that older people are continuing to use the web even while they are away to post pictures and thoughts via social networking sites like Facebook.

She said that this has made the process of sharing their holiday memories and experiences "easier than ever".

This comes after recent research published by Halifax revealed that almost half of those aged between 55 and 64 are currently hoping to take time out of their schedules to travel the world.
