The benefits of playing golf

Perhaps one of the benefits of playing golf recreationally is the social experience. Playing golf is a good way to spend time with friends, family, and co-workers. Golf courses also have clubhouses, which are fun to eat and drink at while socialising with old friends and new acquaintances. The clubhouse is great to relax and further the conversations sparked upon the course in a laid back atmosphere. Golf is also beneficial in keeping up with old work friends after youíve retired, and meeting new friends. Even after youíve retired you can meet up with the guys on a Saturday and catch up on new gossip, as well as discussing the old days.

Golf can also be a good family activity. Kids will get to run around in wide open spaces. Although young children will not be able to make long drives, they will enjoy the fun of putting, and it is a great way to get the family all together. If you have a hard time finding activities for everyone in your family to be happy, golf is a wonderful option. Golf is good for people of all physical abilities including older people who can sit in a golf cart instead of standing long periods, and little children who can run and expound all of their energy. You can take the family out for a round of golf and follow it up with a nice lunch at the clubhouse.

Another one of the benefits of playing golf is that it offers enjoyment for all athletic types. It provides good exercise for any age. Walking is good for everybody as well as the actual playing. The best physical benefit is the fresh air the golf course provides. Being active outside is beneficial because youíll receive vitamin D from the sun, and the actual physical activity is great for your heart, bones and muscles. However, make sure to wear a hat and plenty of sunscreen or youíll reap the rest of the sunís consequences in the form of spots, wrinkles, and even skin cancer.

If you find that you have a talent for golf, or even if you donít, you can compete often times in local competitions for good non-profit causes. People do not take golf so seriously at these levels, and you will find a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere in which to further have fun with the sport of golf. As a relatively inexpensive activity, one of the benefits of playing golf is itís an enjoyable experience that can take up an hour or two or a whole day. Socialising is half of the fun; itís not all about putting the ball into the cup. Whether you enjoy a day of friendly competition with your buddies followed by a drink at the clubhouse, or a morning with the family just having fun, golf has potential for everyone.
