Would you fib about your age?
Over 50s both in and out of the public eye are finding plenty of reasons to be slightly creative when telling others their age.
BBC News Magazine has put together a list of reasons which explain why a recent poll from TV channel Really suggested that 36 per cent of Britons are regularly lying about their real age.
Many older celebrities are choosing to do so as they feel it will make them more marketable or relatable, with New Tricks star Amanda Redman having recently claimed that she was dreading her 50th birthday - despite the fact she is already 52.
The report also highlighted other reasons why older people might wish to lie about their age, such as to qualify for fertility treatments.
However, it would appear that most over 50s are at least honest with their close confidants, with a US poll revealing that 94 per cent of women have never lied to their best friend about their age.
Other celebrities who have admitted to have lied about their age include pop star Anastacia and TV presenter Kate Garraway.
